A blizzard called the 'Great White Hurricane' swept the east coast with snow and snow drift up to 50 feet high. The blizzard impacted major cities such as New York and Boston and blocked out all services of the city. In result of the disaster, there was fire and flooding, which caused million dollar damages. The death toll was 400 deaths in total, 200 in New York city. After this catastrophic blizzard, the start of the underground subway systems started.

The Knickerbocker Storm was a blizzard that caused a lot of heavy wet snow that loaded up on a roof at Knickerbocker Theater at Washington, D.C. The night of the blizzard was a premier of 'Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford,' a silent film. The heavy snow loaded onto the roof and made the roof collapse. Bricks, metal and concrete all rained down on the audience taking 98 lives.

A strong Nor'easter roared across the East Coast and hit Connecticut, New Jersey, the New York area, Rhode Island, and the Massachusetts area. In Boston, 27.1 inches of snow were measured, breaking a record. The storm killed approximately 100 people and injured about 4,500, it also caused over 520 million dollars (at that time). This blizzard hit New England hard with a lot of snow.

It swept homes into the eastern shore of Long Island.
